L’œuvre a été créée dans le cadre d’un projet initié par la Fondation Jordi Bonet en collaboration avec la MRC de La Vallée-du-Richelieu (MRCVR). Les artistes participants étaient invités à concevoir une œuvre à partir de rebus et de matériaux recyclés.
« Le glacier et le radeau » se présente comme un fragment de polystyrène sculpté à la main, posé sur une structure échoué sur la rive. Réalisée à partir de rebuts issus de la production de décors de cinéma, l’œuvre, figée dans une matière non dégradable, explore la tension entre permanence et effacement. Par ce geste de réemploi, le projet invite à réfléchir à notre manière d’utiliser et de transformer la matière. Il se tient dans cet entre-deux, à la fois poétique et dissonant, léger et inquiet, comme un fragment échoué d’un monde en mutation.

The work was created as part of a project initiated by the Jordi Bonet Foundation in collaboration with the MRC de La Vallée-du-Richelieu (MRCVR). Participating artists were invited to make a piece made from discarded and recycled materials.
“The glacier and the Raft” presents itself as a hand-sculpted fragment of polystyrene resting on a structure stranded along the shore. Made from discarded materials originating from film set production, the work, frozen within a non-degradable substance, explores the tension between permanence and disappearance. Through this act of reuse, the project invites reflection on our ways of using and transforming matter. It exists in a space between states, both poetic and dissonant, light and uneasy, like a fragment washed ashore from a world in transformation.
